Mehfil Indian Cuisine
If you're anywhere near downtown San Francisco and craving authentic Indian food, Mehfil Indian Cuisine is a must-visit spot. Tucked into 88 2nd St, this casual eatery serves up bold flavors, comforting classics, and a vibe that feels both chill and welcoming. It's the kind of place where you can roll in with your crew, bring the kids, or even hang out with your pup thanks to their dog-friendly outdoor seating.
Now let’s talk food—because that’s where Mehfil really shines. The Chicken Tikka Masala is a fan favorite for a reason—rich, creamy, and just the right amount of spice. Not into chicken? No problem. The Saag Paneer is a vegetarian gem, offering that perfect mix of earthy spinach and soft, milky paneer. Butter Chicken is another go-to, especially if you're after something smooth, buttery, and completely satisfying. Pair it with fluffy Basmati Rice or some warm naan, and you’ve basically got comfort in a bowl. And if you're into something with a bit more kick, the Lamb Curry hits that spicy-satisfying note just right.
One of the things I personally love about Mehfil Indian Cuisine is how easy it is to settle in and enjoy your meal. There’s a moderate buzz—enough to feel lively but not so much that you can’t hear your own conversation. It’s the kind of spot that feels just right whether you’re grabbing a quick lunch or having a slow dinner with friends.
So whether you’re an Indian food connoisseur or just in the mood for something flavorful and hearty, Mehfil Indian Cuisine delivers every time.

This amazing little curry house has been here in downtown for more than a decade and you can still get a delicious veggie or meat "lunchbox" for under $10 (naan is extra, but worth it). The rotating menu changes daily, which is great because I visit regularly. They also have thalis for a more expansive food adventure.
Great lunch for under $10 a person. Nice sized portions and a good variety to choose from. Options change daily.
How did I not know this place existed before today?? Walked in and out with a take out lunch box (you can pick from a list of 5 or so preset meals) in less than 5 mins for $8. And the food was delicious! I'll be putting the rest of my coworkers on to this place. Thanks for a quick yum lunch!
The food was amazing! We ordered Samosa Chaat, Butter Chicken, Lamb Curry, a lentil dish, and baked eggplant dish. friendly service during the lunch rush.
Got a very generous portion of some great saag paneer for $7. That's a pretty great lunch option!
